There is a very famous saying that “Well begun is Half done”. This means that a good and positive beginning is the most important part before starting any work. This holds true even when we start a new chapter in our life that is of College. When I was about to start my College in KCC Institute I was very excited. I could not resist going to college and start a new phase of my life. I had taken admission in KCC Institute in Bcom Hons course after months of hard work which included getting good percentage in 12th standard and qualifying my Entrance exam. I could see that all these efforts had bore fruits as I got a chance to study in such a marvelous college which totally lived up to expectations. Everything which according to me is a requirement of a good college was present there.
One week before the college started we had received messages on our phone number and got mails on our mail IDs which we had provided to the college regarding the orientation program to be held in the college. I was really excited to start my college. I began shopping for new clothes so that I could look best on my first day of college. A night before orientation I packed my college bag and kept all the essential items and went to bed for a good night’s sleep.
I got up in the morning, got ready, prayed to god and left for college. My father was accompanying me as we were allowed to bring our parent along with us for the orientation program. Before reaching college I had jitters but my father comforted me. As soon as I reached college I was awe struck to see its beauty. There was a kind of miracle in the environment there. College was beautifully decorated with flowers, our seniors and teachers had made rangoli at various places. We were given a warm welcome and all the parents were asked to wait in the waiting area while we all students had to go to our designated halls. We went to our lecture halls. A faculty was there to help and guide us. They interacted with us. Attendance was taken and we were given further instructions. After half an hour we got instruction that we all had to go to the Auditorium where orientation was going to be held. We along with our parents and faculties went there.
The auditorium was gracefully decorated with flowers, ribbons and balloons. We were greeted with a tilak on our forehead. We made ourselves comfortable on our seats. When everyone settled down the program started. First of all lighting of the lamp was done because blessings of God is foremost for any work to be done. Then we were introduced to our director ma’am. She gave a brief introduction about how our three years is going to be here, what all do they expect from us and made us feel comfortable and at home. Slowly we were introduced to other faculties. We were told about various societies that are there for us and the leader of each society. We were told to register for 2-3 societies. We were also told about the grievance redressal system of the college so that we may not face any difficulty of any sort. Then the head of Bcom Department gave a small speech to us to boost our confidence and moral. The program was completed with the national anthem.
When we came out of the Auditorium we all were given refreshments. Then we again went back to our classes. Attendance was taken once again and we were given circulars of Time table and other necessary items. We were given told to give brief introduction about oneself. There were around 70 Students in the class so it took around 1 hour for all of us to complete. We exchanged our numbers with our fellow classmates. We asked our questions to the teachers who were present in our classes. Few other students asked certain question regarding the affidavits and other documents which we had to submit. In the mean time my father was enquiring about the transportation with the transportation department.
Then we were told that we could go back home now and that from next day onwards the classes will start at 9 am sharp. I came back to the reception area where my father was waiting for me. Then we drove back home all excited to start my classes from the very next day onwards.
So, overall you can say that my first day in college was better than I had expected it to be. What made me happy was that each and every student had a sense of satisfaction that they are now in safe hands and that these three years of College life is going to be smooth an d excellent.
Thank You!!
