BCA or Bachelors in Computer Applications is an undergraduate programme of three years duration where students learn a great deal about computer languages. Students fascinated by the world of computers and its applications join the BCA programme. The value of a BCA degree is no less than a B.Tech or B.E degree in information technology or computer science. BCA is offered in both regular and distance mode. The course is either divided into the semester or yearly mode. Students with a BCA or higher degree become valuable assets to IT sector companies and MNCs.
Eligibility
Those candidates who have cleared their qualifying 10+2 exam from a recognised Board in Science stream with Computer Science and Mathematics as compulsory subjects are fit to join the BCA programme. The candidates must also make sure that they clear their respective qualifying exam with a minimum aggregate of 50% or more to be considered eligible for the BCA programme.
Entrance Exam
IPU CET- also known as the Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test, its a University-level entrance exam conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) for admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different fields of study. It is also a gateway exam for BCA admission at GGSIPU.

Career Scopes after BCA
We now move on to the phase after completion of BCA studies and we begin with the career opportunities that a BCA student has once he/she has got his/her degree. A BCA graduate gets plenty of opportunities in both the private and public sectors. Here is a list of some of those –
Government Sector – A BCA degree opens up various opportunities in numerous Government sectors like a bank, defence etc. There are numerous exams which are conducted for entry into these Government sectors like UPSC CDSE, UPSC, SSC CGL, SSC etc. These are all graduate-level entrance exams where only BCA degree holders can apply for.
Public Sector – Apart from the aforementioned Government sector jobs, there are multiple chances for BCA graduates in the public sectors like NTPC, Steel Authority of India, BHEL etc. The BCA graduates do not have to appear in any entrance exams (usually) for a career in the public sector
Private Sector – India has witnessed the emergence of the IT sector probably like no other country in the world which has created a plethora of job opportunities for BCA graduates, especially in the past decade or two. Freelancing – It is another choice for BCA graduates as there are many fewer known companies or startups that need professional’s adept in programming languages to help them build their own websites. Because of the crunch in their budget, they outsource their programming task to freelancers with a BCA degree (or a higher degree).
